What is Leadership?

Lao-Tzu wrote the doe te ching which means the way.

He said about leaders.  This is from the sixth century BC

True leaders are hardly known to their followers.  Next after them are leaders that people know and admire; After them those they fear; after them those they despise.  To give no trust is to get no trust; when the works done right with no fuss or boasting ordinary people say oh we did it ourselves.

What kind of leader will you be?  As you take on the challenges of this year how will you lead those around you?

I can help you find the leader inside you.   Whether you are leading in a corporate environment, at you church, in your community or you just want to be a role model for your family leadership is required.

I invite you to reach out and have a no obligation conversation with me that could change not only your life but the life of those around you.

Learn actionable solutions and tools for personal growth.

When working with me you will discover your own personal way to lead those around you.  There are many solutions to a single problem and only by knowing the tools and being strong enough can we lead those around us to a synergistic solution.  Synergy is one of the tools we can focus on.  Synergy can is described in Stephen R Covey's book "The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People" as a solution to a problem or challenge that parties involve could not have come to independently.  In simpler words: we need to work together to create a solution we are both happy with.  This is different than compromise where we come to a solution that both of us can live with.

2

Develop confidence and achieve your goals.

Some fear leading because they lack the confidence and skill to take action and work towards a solution.  For this reason we use quick and easy paths to a solution like borrowing strength rather than lasting supportive solutions like synergy or collaboration.

Stephen R Covey wrote Seven habits of highly effective people and said

Borrowing strength builds weakness.  It builds weakness in the borrower because it reinforces dependance on external factors to get things done.  It builds weakness in the person forced to acquiesce, stunting the development of independent reasoning, growth and internal discipline. And finally, it builds weakness in the relationship.  Fear replaces cooperation, and both people involved become more arbitrary and defensive.

Ask your self, what happens when the source of borrowed strength--be it superior size or physical strength, position, authority, credentials, status symbols, appearance or past achievements--changes or is no longer there?

Gain the skills to stay focused and motivated.

As we work together you will develop skills to focus on what is important in any situation and keep the conversation focused there until a solution presents its self.  This in turn builds motivation in yourself and those around you to tackle large challenges.
