Challenge yourself to do something new

I read a long time ago about an exercise from Tony Robbins about visualizing my comfort zone.

Take a piece of paper and draw a circle on it, then place dots inside the circle. Each dot represents the things you are doing now or are comfortable doing.

Next, think about anything that you have done in the last week, month or year that was outside your comfort zone and place some dots outside the circle to represent each of those.

Now have a look at the whole page. If you have nothing outside the circle, it will shrink to encompass the things you are doing now. Once it starts to shrink, if you continue to do nothing outside your circle (or comfort zone), the circle will continue to shrink until you are no longer comfortable doing the things you used to find easy. However, there is good news! Simply remember the opposite is true; if you do one thing outside your comfort zone, your circle will grow.

Have fun with this exercise! Challenge yourself to see where your life will go. I have done this on many occasions when I have been stuck with no direction. Just try something new, meet new people, and live life. It will really help you to get out of your own way while you move toward the life you want.
